Eargo’s parent company, LXE Hearing, is winding down its U.S. operations. If you currently wear Eargo hearing aids, there is no need to panic or retire a perfectly working pair overnight.
Your hearing aids are expected to continue working, but important changes are coming to warranties, customer support, and the Eargo app.
Here is what is changing, what you should do now, and how to keep your hearing journey moving forward.
The Important Eargo Deadlines
Let’s get the serious dates out of the way first:
-
September 15, 2026: Last day to submit a new warranty or repair request.
-
October 22, 2026: The Eargo app will be removed from app stores and its cloud connectivity will be turned off.
-
October 22, 2026: Eargo customer and technical support will end.
-
October 30, 2026: Eargo product manuals and guides are expected to be removed from the website.
These dates were provided in LXE Hearing’s official September 2026 notice.
Will Your Eargo Hearing Aids Still Work?
The short answer is: Yes
Eargo hearing aids are expected to continue providing amplification and basic everyday functionality using their onboard controls and previously saved settings.
They will not suddenly go silent on October 22. However, future access to app-based controls will depend on what you do before that date.
A little digital housekeeping now could save you a major headache later.
Update and Synchronize Your Eargo App
Eargo customers should update the mobile app to version 9.0 before October 22.
Once updated:
-
Connect your hearing aids to your phone.
-
Open the Eargo app while connected to the internet.
-
Confirm your preferred volume settings and listening profiles.
-
Allow the app and hearing aids to synchronize.
-
Keep the app installed on your current phone.
Version 9.0 is expected to retain some local functions on the phone where it was installed and synchronized.
However, it will no longer receive software or security updates, and compatibility with future phone updates cannot be guaranteed. After October 22, you will not be able to download or reinstall the Eargo app. Older versions may stop functioning when cloud connectivity is turned off.
Give Your Hearing Aids a Quick Checkup
Before September 15, take a few minutes to test both hearing aids and your charger.
Check for:
-
Reduced or intermittent sound
-
Charging problems
-
Shortened battery life
-
Physical damage
-
Missing or damaged tips
-
Problems connecting to the app
Sometimes weak sound is caused by something as simple as wax buildup or a worn filter. But if you suspect a larger problem and your devices are still under warranty, now is the time to raise your hand.
Replacement parts may be limited by remaining inventory. If you need tips, wax guards, microphone caps or other Eargo-specific accessories, it would be wise to request them sooner rather than later.
Save the Important Stuff
Before support ends, save copies of:
-
Your purchase receipt
-
Hearing-aid model and serial numbers
-
Warranty information
-
Current hearing settings
-
Customer-service correspondence
-
Repair or replacement case numbers
-
The manual for your Eargo model
Think of it as packing a small digital emergency kit. You may never need all of it, but future you will be glad it is there.
Do You Need to Replace Your Eargos Immediately?
Not necessarily.
If your Eargo hearing aids are working properly, you can continue using them. There is no prize for replacing a good pair before you need to.
However, this is a good time to start exploring your options. Planning gives you time to compare fit, controls, personalization, and battery performance without having to make a rushed decision after a device, charger, or accessory stops working.
Keep using what works. Just have a Plan B waiting in the wings.
Looking for the Closest Eara Alternative? Meet Veil Mini
If what you loved most about your Eargos was their small, discreet in-ear design, the Eara Veil Mini is the natural place to begin.
Like Eargo’s signature hearing aids, Veil Mini is designed to sit discreetly inside the ear. Its compact, lightweight shape helps it blend naturally into everyday life without a larger device resting behind your ear.
Veil Mini also brings together the features many Eargo customers already value:
-
A discreet, deep in-ear design
-
Lightweight everyday comfort
-
Rechargeable hearing aids
-
App-based sound personalization
-
Multiple ear-tip options
-
Noise reduction and feedback management
-
A portable charging case
It is not an Eargo copy, and that is a good thing. It is a fresh alternative for people who still want that small, nearly invisible style while moving into the Eara hearing experience.
There is no direct transfer of Eargo settings into another hearing-aid system, so a fresh setup and a short adjustment period may be required. Our team can help make that transition feel less like starting over and more like picking up where you left off.
Prefer a Different Style?
Veil Mini may be our closest alternative for Eargo customers, but it will not be the right fit for everyone.
You may prefer Bluetooth streaming, easier-to-handle physical controls, a receiver-in-canal design or a hearing aid that does not depend on a smartphone app.
That is why Eara offers a wider collection of rechargeable OTC hearing aids for different preferences, lifestyles and budgets.
